Prefect

zupanBožidar Longin was born in Zadar in 1960. He graduated from elementary and Classical Gymnasium in his hometown and completed his studies on the Forestry Faculty at the Zagreb University in 1986.
Upon completing his studies, he worked as a private entrepreneur until the summer of 1991 when he joined the Homeland War as a volunteer. He is a retired Croatian army officer who was decorated four times and has received multiple military awards.
After the time spent in Croatian Military Forces, he became the manager of Forestry Direction in Zadar, after which he carried out the duties of Zadar County Vice-Prefect in period from 1997 to 2001.
From 2001 to 2004, he returned to the Forestry Direction in Zadar as a director, but volunteered and attended as a member of the Zadar County Assembly in the sector of spatial planning, construction and environmental protection.
From 2004 to 2012, he was reassigned in Zagreb in the Croatian Forests initially as an assistant and later as a member of the Management Board. He contributed to the work of many professional associations and operational groups.
After local election in May 2013, he became a Vice Prefect and on latest local elections in May 2017, he became the Zadar County Prefect.
He is active in many sports associations, especially in the Zadar Basketball Club, where he carried out many responsible duties for the period from 1997 to 2002. From 2001 until today, he is deputy President of the Croatian Basketball Association.
He was President of the Organizing Committee for the European Basketball Championships 2001 and U-20 in 2010, President of the Organizing Committee for the European Championships in sailing in 1999 and participated in the organization of series of other competitions.
He has been politically active in the Croatian Democratic Union since the founding of the political party and carried out many responsible party duties.
Speaks English and Italian.
He is married and father of two children.
